Ride the Rotary: Como to Leadville presented by Dave Tomkins

Until the Railroad finished in 1937 the main source of supplies for the Mountain communities was the Train service. The High Line from Como to Leadville through Summit County involved crossing the Divide twice and proved particularly problematic to keep open in the winter. One of the tools at the Railroad’s disposal was the Rotary; a giant steam powered snow blower based in Como, Colorado. Life was hard, particularly for those who battled the winter storms.
