The Frisco Nordic Center is offering a free talk with mountaineer Art Burrows at 6:30 pm on Thursday, January 25, 2018. Art will present an intimate view into his ski mountaineering experiences through his award winning photography. Art will begin his talk with the first free heeled ascent and descent of Canada’s highest peak, Mt. Logan at 19,850ft. He will then share a few amazing stories and the best images from 37 explorations to British Columbia, Canada. In conclusion, Art will turn to local ski mountaineering with a discussion of his multi-day high alpine route through the Gore Range, while suggesting some untested new routes that would be ideal for the modern ski-mo style now popular in Colorado. There will be some complimentary snacks and a cash bar.
About Art Burrows
Roaring Fork Valley resident Art Burrows is known for exploring a broad ski mountaineering geography of famous ski routes and along the way has designed benchmark products for snow sports. In the design world, he is a recipient of three coveted Graphis Awards. His design reach has been broad and encompasses downtown civic enhancements for the City of Aspen; ski products for Scarpa and Black Diamond Equipment; and brand enhancements for the Aspen Skiing Company. He was a key force within the original group that forged modern Telemark skiing. Art is a two-time World Masters Telemark Champion, and currently divides his time between design, photography, winter and summer adventures and inspiring the next generation of mountain culture contributors.
