Frisco has become known as a destination for iconic and unique athletic events. Frisco hosts everything from the longest running Nordic event in Colorado to BrewSki, which involves costumes, skiing and beer tasting. The summer also boasts longstanding events like 44th Annual Run the Rockies Road Half-Marathon and 10k and the award winning Frisco Triathlon with paddle boarding, mountain biking and trail running. Frisco’s athletic events are designed to be accessible for newbies and also competitive for the hardcore athlete- so come check us out.
The 44th Annual Run the Rockies Road Half Marathon & 10k – Saturday, September 18, 2021 COVID19 Update: We continue to monitor regulations and recommendations regarding group gatherings during these unprecedented times. We will have a final decision made regarding the 2021 Run the Rockies Road races on June 18, 2021.This race has moved from June to September and will showcase the beautiful fall colors in Frisco!
The Bacon Burner 6k – June 19, 2021 Due to ongoing public health orders and conditions, the Town of Frisco has made the decision to cancel the 2021 Colorado BBQ Challenge, and the Bacon Burner 6k, originally scheduled for June 17-19. This is a 3.8 mile out-and-back run which takes place on the paved Frisco Recreational Path. All racers will receive commemorative Bacon Burner apparel, and all registrants 21 and older will also get a free beer ticket to redeem at the 27th Annual Colorado BBQ Challenge. This race is open to 400 racers and fills quickly because of well stocked bacon aid stations and the opportunity to run off great BBQ.
The Frisco Solo Series This Series is TBD pending Public Health guidelines. This Series is a twist on a traditional virtual race; we will have an actual course marked for racers to run on! The Series will showcase amazing single track trails and endless views of the Dillon Reservoir and the Ten Mile Range.
The 6th Annual Frisco Mountain Goat Kids Trail Running Series – Tuesdays, June 15, 29 and July 13, 27, 2021 COVID19 Update: We continue to monitor regulations and recommendations regarding group gatherings during these unprecedented times. We will have a final decision made regarding the Mountain Goat Kids Series on May 14, 2021.This series of four kids trail running races held every other week throughout the summer features race courses of varying distances for kids who just learned to walk to 15 years of age. The entire family is encouraged to come out to participate or just cheer on these budding trail runners. Once the kids cross the finish line, they are encouraged to grab a slice of pizza at the Frisco Day Lodge to celebrate their accomplishment.
The 7th Annual Frisco Triathlon – July 9, 2021 SOLD OUT FOR 2021! We will enroll people from the waitlist when and if the COVID19 group gathering guidelines change. The Frisco Triathlon was named “Best Triathlon” in Elevation Outdoors Magazine’s reader poll, 2016 Best of the Rockies. This unique triathlon will feature a 3k stand up paddle board leg, 12k of mountain biking and a 5k trail run. This new twist on a triathlon is open to all ability levels and encourages athletes to take on a new multi-sport event with beautiful Dillon Reservoir and the Frisco Peninsula serving as the event location.
The Run the Rockies Trail 10k and Half Marathon – Saturday, August 14, 2021 COVID19 Update: We continue to monitor regulations and recommendations regarding group gatherings during these unprecedented times. We will have a final decision made regarding the 2021 Run the Rockies Trail Races on May 14, 2021. This race will lead runners throughout the Frisco Peninsula on trails with breathtaking views of Dillon Reservoir, the Gore Range and the Ten Mile Range. This has been proven to be a great course for first time half marathoners, as well as seasoned runners.
The Girls on the Run 5k TBD for 2021; check back for event updates. This celebratory, non-competitive event is the culminating experience of a 10 week program which is open to girls in 3rd through 5th grade. This race will also be open to the public with a beautiful course along Dillon Reservoir.
The 8th Annual Turkey Day 5k Fun Run – Thursday, November 25, 2021 COVID19 Update: We continue to monitor regulations and recommendations regarding group gatherings during these unprecedented times. We are working with our local permitting agencies as well as following guidance from Summit County Public Health. The health and safety of our race participants, staff, volunteers, and the Frisco community is our top priority. We will have a final decision made regarding the Turkey Day 5k on August 27, 2021. This is a great way to start a new family tradition on Thanksgiving Day. . We encourage you to come out and burn a few calories before celebrating with food, family and fun! This event is open to all ages and will take place on the Summit County Recreation Path and Town of Frisco side streets. We invite all racers to make a non-perishable food donation at the event which will benefit the Family & Intercultural Resource Center of Summit County. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Frisco Elementary’ s S.T.E.M. program.
The 51st Annual Frisco Gold Rush Weekend – Saturday, February 13, 2021 After countless conversations and reviewing numerous scenarios, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Frisco Gold Rush. It is the longest running Nordic event in Colorado, and consists of classic and skate races open to skiers of all ages and abilities. Gold Rush is where the past and present come together to celebrate our historical mining heritage and embrace our snowy Nordic culture.
The 5th Annual Frisco BrewSki – Saturday, March 13, 2021 COVID19 Update: We continue to monitor regulations and recommendations regarding group gatherings during these unprecedented times. We will have a final decision made regarding the 2021 Brewski event February 12, 2021. This event encourages costumes, teamwork, whacky photos, oh and did we mention it’s all on skis?!? Join us for this happy hour ski tour which will feature beverage stops, whacky costumes and local breweries. But make no mistake- this is an afternoon event meant for the whole family.
