Ski Mountaineering Racing Clinics

Are you starting to explore the sport of Ski Mountaineering?  Are you wondering what Ski Mountaineering is? Or are you looking to learn some new tips and techniques?

Join the Town of Frisco Recreation Department and the Summit Skimo Club for three evening clinics and a race that will prep you for the Ski Mountaineering (Skimo) season! Our instructors will review the sport’s history, basic equipment, tuning/waxing, transitioning, race tactics and more!

All ski levels are welcome to participate; you must provide your own gear.  Check back to our website for demo gear and rental information.

The event was geared towards touring/alpine types of skis with laps up and around the tubing hill with transitions to skins at the base of the hill over a 45-minute period. This was the first in a 3-race series with the next event scheduled for March 8.

Summit Skimo Sprint Race

Whether you’ve participated in the Skimo clinics or not, we invite you to come out and race at the Frisco Adventure Park for Gold Rush Weekend!  The course will take racers in a circuit on our ski and ride hill and around our tubing hill.  This will give you the chance to practice the techniques and tips you’ve learned at our clinics.

Cost:  $30

Required Gear: All participants must have skis, skins, poles, helmets, and backpacks.

10:00a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Qualifying Round, participants will take as many laps in 45 minutes. The 12 fastest men and women will continue into semi-final rounds.
